MH de YOUNG MUSEUM, GOLDEN GATE PARK, SAN FRANCISCO, CA

Located in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, the new MH deYoung Museum has become one of San Francisco’s most beloved and highly-active public spaces. By re-envisioning the traditional notions of art museum, the new building blends galleries with public space, arts education and large flexible multiple function event spaces. The ground level is designed and programmed to be unticketed, allowing park goers to freely meander through the building from multiple entry points in the park. Emphasis was placed on creating a design that balanced the new building with its unique park surroundings and created a publicly engaging, civic space in Golden Gate Park.
